Soufriere Constituency MP, Denise Charles-Pemberton, said THE constituency recorded significant progress in housing, infrastructure, livelihoods, & local development during the past fiscal year

Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere Constituency, Denise Charles-Pemberton, declared that the region made significant progress in housing, infrastructure, livelihoods, and local development during the past fiscal year. 


Speaking at a town hall meeting in Scottshead recently, Charles-Pemberton pointed to several completed and ongoing initiatives, including the newly constructed Scotts Head Sea View Apartments and the upcoming distribution of home keys for residents in Pointe Michel. 


She highlighted the completion of the long-requested Scottshead sea wall and noted that local fishermen who lost their vessels to Hurricane Maria have been provided with upgraded, unsinkable boats financed through a government partnership with the World Bank, successfully restoring their livelihoods. 


Furthermore, she reported progress on the Alum Stream Project, which provides residents with septic tanks and toilets to manage wastewater, alongside the full restoration of the Daniel Marchand Preschool in Soufriere following its destruction by Hurricane Maria. 


Looking to future developments, Charles-Pemberton announced plans for a five-star facility at Champagne Beach in Pointe Michel designed to boost local commerce. She explained that the new facility will feature designated vending stalls for local artisans and restaurant operators, allowing residents to generate greater income from visiting tourists.
