Tina Alexander wants the juvenile prison system to give the youth a chance to correct their mistakes2/25/2016 Executive Director of Lifeline Ministries Tina Alexander wants the juvenile prison system to give the youth a chance to correct their mistakes, rather than put total satisfaction in the hands of the complainants, without any second thoughts, as is often the case. She says Dominica need not emulate the European culture where corporal discipline is prohibited, and calls for a separate unit to deal with minors in the justice system. Ms Alexander also calls for a review of the social system in order to put social workers back in the community allowing them to deal with children face to face.
She says that going through the courts is not therapeutic for a child who has been abused, and that the entire family needs therapeutic help, especially when the abused child or the abuser has been removed from the family.
