Following safety checks and reinforcements to ensure a safe experience, The Ministry of Tourism and Urban Renewal has announced the completion of the reinforcement and upgrade to the Wotten Waven Foot Bridge, effective Monday, December 5, 2016.
Last Thursday December 1st, an attraction was closed when the footbridge leading to a platform for viewing one of the boiling basins in Wotten Waven collapsed, with approximately 15 tourists.
According to a release, Tourism Minister Robert Tonge stated, despite the fact that the footbridge was located on private property, the country had a vested interest in ensuring the swift rehabilitation of this authentic aspect of Dominica’s Tourism product.
The Discover Dominica Authority says it will continue to be vigilant year-round, to ensure that all Tourism attraction sites, both private and public are accessible and safe, to help secure Dominica in that number one spot, as the best place in the Caribbean for Eco Tourism.
