UWP Leader Lennox Linton says the Opposition is not in Parliament to agree on all proposals presented by Government, but instead to hold them accountable for their stewardship in the interest of Dominicans
Parliamentary Opposition Leader Lennox Linton described the 2022/23 National Budget as not so different from budgets presented to the House of Assembly over the last 20 years, and that everyone has gotten used to the illusions created by the DLP Administration in order to cover up their flaws and lack of capacity to implement the proposed programs, or to stay within the approved budget estimates, and consistently return to Parliament within months, for supplementary appropriations.
Linton emphasized that the Opposition has the responsibility to hold the Government accountable for its stewardship in the interest of the people. He contends that it is not to role of the opposition just to simply agree with all proposals presented in the House. He was speaking on the Workers Voice Program on Q95 last night.
Linton further stated that the actions of the Speaker of the House of Assembly continue to be demonstrated as being biased against members of the opposition in parliament, and unlike other Parliaments around the world, the speaker has the right to protect the minority members.
