UWP Leader says police failed to act on allegations of kidnapping and assault by a Minister & his son
Opposition Leader Lennox Linton is concerned about the questionable behaviour of some law enforcement officials in Dominica. Addressing a UWP town hall meeting at LaPlaine last week, Linton referred to allegations of kidnapping and assault made against a Minister of Government and his son.
Two farmers of the LaPlaine community alleged that Education Minister and LaPlaine MP, Petter St Jean had kidnaped and beaten them, for allegedly stealing provisions from his farm.
The Minister has since refuted these allegations, describing them as malicious attempts by criminal elements in LaPlaine, to tarnish his good name, and that of community members. Linton says however, only the police have the authority to arrest on suspicion, but they stood by and have done nothing, as far as he is aware.
