Judgment was delivered on the matter where Jason Jones argued that the automatic acceptance of persons graduating with law degrees from the University of the West Indies (UWI) into the law schools, and the requirement for the holders of "non-UWI" law degrees to sit an entrance exam to gain entrance to the law schools, amounts to breaches of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. Jones is the president and co-founder of the Association of Caribbean Students for equal access to the legal profession (ACSEAL).He cited articles 35, 36, 37 and 46 of the revised treaty and argued that these infractions are restricting participation in the Caribbean single market and economy (CSME). The court found that Mr. Jones Submission and the Declarations that he sought was incompatible with the treaty to the extent that such an application leads to an unjustified difference in treatment of, or discrimination between holders of law degrees from UWI, and those from non UWI degrees. The court found that Mr. Jones failed to point to anything in the treaty that would make it arguable that the application of article three of the agreement, violated, or could violate the treaty. Summary Judgement read by Justice Barrow.

Dominicans had been pleading with the Skerrit-led DLP Administration to use CBI funds to provide stimulus packages for struggling citizens post Hurricane Maria and during the Covid-pandemic. After much reluctance and indecision, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has finally provided an explanation of sorts, for his government’s failure to provide effective stimulus packages with the CBI revenues. He stated that his Ministry decided to save the money in efforts to clear the nation's debt, hoping to reduce it to a low 20%. However, his critics note that Dominica’s National Debt is the highest it has ever been, the country’s debt to GDP ratio is still alarmingly high, and the economy is in shambles. Former Attorney General Bernard Wilshire revisits pages in history that exposes Shackles and chains as the foundation of the very churches built to serve God. Speaking in recognition of Black History Month, Mr. Wiltshire reminded Dominicans of the People of the south, the Grandbay people who were the very first slaves in Dominica under the whips of the Church. Fast forward today, the chains on the flesh may be gone, but the mind is still enslaved. He is of the view that our education system in Dominica & the Caribbean needs to be revamped and refocused on us. Former Attorney General, Bernard Wiltshire

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit sought to give a history of the CBI program and explained why his administration tweaked the UWP’s re engineered Economic Citizenship Program. He finally acknowledged that the program is not sustainable, and should not be solely depended upon for revenue. Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit
Former Attorney General Bernard Wilshire says creating a sustainable economy for citizens to earn a decent living has been unattainable by the DLP Government, and those that preceded them. He was a guest on Q95’s Talk On the Block, hosted by Sean Douglas yesterday afternoon. He stated that we as a community have a responsibility to ensure that its members are not left behind, or remain in a struggling disposition. Economic self-sufficiency is the ability of individuals and families to maintain sufficient income to consistently meet their basic needs – including food, housing, utilities, health care, transportation, taxes, dependent care, and clothing – with no or minimal financial assistance or subsidies from private or public.
