With regard to schooling, specifically to tertiary education, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit insists that promises made to students are being kept. He urged tertiary level students to be responsible and remain aware of their priorities. He was speaking on his “Anous Parlay” program on Sunday. He thanked the teachers for their commitment to the students who will be going back to school on September 7. He also reminded parents and the community that they too need to play their part in the education of the children. Parliamentary representative for the Soufriere constituency Ms. Denise Charles is calling for an end to partisan politics within her constituency. Speaking at the commissioning of a newly constructed bridge in point Mitchell, by abundant life fellowship deliverance ministries along with other stakeholders, Ms. Charles says politics is just for election season. “when election is over, the politicians should go to bed. We have to join hands, work together and build each other in the community.” Says MPDenise Charles. Q95 news has received reliable information concerning a stabbing incident which occurred near a popular business place in Roseau, on August 29, 2020. Police has identified the victim, who is now deceased, as 22-year-old Denzel James. Investigations are ongoing and one person is assisting police. Shortly after being stabbed, James was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), however he succumbed to his injuries. Dominica has confirmed yet another imported case of COVID-19 at the Douglas Charles Airport on Saturday. The Dominica Association with persons with disabilities has received an EC $5,000 increase in their government subvention. This increase has been revealed by DAPD Executive Director Nathalie Murphy The subversion of $15,000 has now been increased to $20,000. Dominicans are baffled by the mystery surrounding the cause of two attempts of alleged arson on the Roseau Public Library. It is confirmed that on August 21, 2020, the fire department was notified of a fire at the building in question, the blaze was put out just in time, saving most of the structure of the building, which was recently compromised by the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017, and to date, has not been repaired. On August 29, 2020, sometime after 10pm, fire officials and the police were called to the scene for another fire. Local media have been informed that Investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of these mysterious fire incidents. |
