The Roseau Valley Association along with some team members of the UWP Team Dominica will be having a block meeting in Laudat highlighting some of the plans for the Roseau valley all the whilst confronting some of the issues facing Dominica. The meeting is scheduled to take place 630pm on Thursday. UWP Candidate for the Roseau Valley constituency Senator Ronald Charles says that there are many issues confronting the Valley such as Housing, unemployment, agriculture, tourism and other issues. The conversation isn’t just limited to the valley also the country’s tourism sector as well. Senator Charles is encouraging persons to come listen and participate in this meeting.

Former Attorney General Bernard Wilshire, turns back the pages of democracy and shared a few lines about the leaders who headlined chapters of cultural unity in Dominica. He highlighted days of old, saying that we have written a completely new chapter in our country’s history, totally opposite of the visions and struggles our fore fathers of democracy, strove for. He Referenced Edward Oliver LeBlanc and Rosie Douglas, and their altruistic characteristics un attached to material wealth and acquisitions of power. A Former Aid Bank employee is the Canefield Urban Council's New Chairman. Ian Williams took the oath of office on Wednesday. The Cultural Division presented a tribute concert to Jean Lawrence-Mathurin on Wednesday. 50 years ago Mathurin founded the Siffleur Montagne Chorale. The First ever International Food Fair is being celebrated under the theme "Think Global, Eat Local." General Manager of the Dominica Export Import Agency Gregoire Thomas says the food fair is an attempt by DEXIA, and the Roseau Market to focus attention on local foods. The food fair ends on Friday. Thomas says with regards to the international dimension of the food fair, the aim is to expose Dominican consumers to the consumption of foods prepared by various nationalities living in Dominica. Dominica Reparations Committee member and attorney at Law Henry Shillingford says we must have internal fortitude to stand up to the present DLP Administration and move fearlessly. Mr. Shillingford called out Mr. Skerrit, saying that he is a little boy who has done nothing, and that the 'Dr.' title he is claiming carries no weight. Shillingford was speaking on the ‘Governance & the Economy’ program on Q95fm Radio on Tuesday evening. He says persons have to feel insulted by someone such as Skerrit, who in his opinion has achieved nothing. There are children who are sitting in positions of authority who shouldn’t be there, and would love nothing more than to maintain their position, says Pastor Randy Rodney. Rodney says it usually the most vulnerable ones who suffer the most, and persons in power with the most to lose that resist change the hardest. As a result, this type of governing system depicts nothing more than grown men acting like children in positions of power. He says there are a lot of underhand shenanigans happening within the country, and that persons must now pay close attention to the voters list within their constituencies. Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) is demanding the dismissal of Gerald Burton as Chairman of the Electoral Commission. They are calling on Dominicans to make their voice be heard by writing their signature on a petition form to get electoral reform in Dominica. The petition reads; NOW WE, THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF DOMINICA-- 1. PETITION you to act with all haste and to call on the Electoral Commission to ensure that each and every Election Registration Officer do their job in accordance with the law by ensuring that everyone in their polling district who is alive, over 18, resident in the State and have not been absent from the State for a period of more than 5 years, and is on the relevant register of electors as well as all dead individuals be removed. 2. CALL on you to make a public statement that you will ensure that there is in minimum clean registers of electors for the holding and conduct of general elections constitutionally due by May 2020 to ensure that such elections will be as free and fair as possible. To that end as an act of good faith and commitment that you will remove the current Chairman of the Electoral Commission and appoint to that post with immediate effect a totally unbiased statesperson, without conflict of interest. 3. ASSERT that we will continue with public marches and demonstrations and, if necessary civil disobedience, as well as beseeching regional and international support inclusive of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and other like institutions to put every pressure on your office and that we will not allow the holding and conduct of general elections on the basis of the current registers of electors.
