Former Marigot MP says constituency deliberately sidelined by the DLP Administration
Former Marigot MP, Edison James, says there is no doubt in his mind that there is a deliberate position of the DLP Government to punish the people of the Marigot Constituency.
James says the people of that constituency have been sidelined by the current administration for a number of years now simply because of their political preference.
He says this is evident in the neglect of Healthcare and infrastructure in that constituency.
Former Prime Minister, Edison James, has challenged Senior Counsel, Anthony Astaphan, to participate in a public debate on the issues in Dominica.
Describing Astaphan as a coward of the highest order, James accused Astaphan of hiding behind the mic at a local radio station.
While being vocal on a number of issues, Astaphan has not shared those views in any public forum.

Miss Dominica 2016, Tasia Floissac, says she is very confident ahead of her first regional competition this Friday.
Floissac will participate in the Miss Carival 2016 Pageant on July 1 in St Vincent & the Grenadines.
She says she is certain that her preparations thus far have been sufficient to win her the crown.
In February, Floissac captured Miss Dominica 2016 title.

Dominica has won 6 Miss Carival titles since the show's inception in 1985, with the last 2 titles being won by Leslassa Armour-Shillingford in 2013 and Francine Baron in2014.
Contestants are judged on swim wear, talent, evening wear and interview.

Dominica's PM has described as unfair Opposition parties accusation that regional organizations are not doing enough to get back monies being owed to citizens of the region.
On Monday, Parliament approved a bill that will provide an arrangement for legal framework to aid in the resolution of the insolvency of British American Insurance Company BAICO and Colonial Insurance Company CLICO.
The bill is which is called "Plan of Arrangement - BAICO CLICO Act 2016" was brought before parliament by Finance Minister, PM Roosevelt Skerrit on Monday.
And the PM says getting back the monies owed is not a simple matter.

Dominican born Priest, Father Elton Letang, has been appointed Parish Priest at St Theresa's Parish Malik Barataria in Trinidad.
This is the first of major assignments for Letang who was ordained a priest 3 years ago.
According to a letter from Most Reverend Joseph E. Harris Arch Bishop of Port of Spain, the assignment took effect June 1 2016.
About a year ago Letang was named superior of the community of the Redemptorists, the order of priests he belongs to in Trinidad.
From the community he was ordained a priest on June 3 2013.

A one day Consultation to discuss another OECS Draft Family Model Bill will take place on Tuesday July 5th, 2016 at the Public Service Union Conference Room from 9: 00am.
According to a release, consultation has already been held where discussion took place on the Child Justice Bill, Children (Care and Adoption) Bill, Status of Children Bill and Domestic Violence Bill.
This time stakeholders will come together to review the Draft Maintenance Bill. This OECS harmonized Bill relates to the Maintenance of children and procedures which the Court could adopt when making Maintenance Orders.
The present Maintenance Act provides for the Maintenance of certain classes of persons including children and adults. The present Bill is specific to children and proposes that each parent has an obligation to provide reasonably for the maintenance of children.
A local Drafter will make presentations on both the present Maintenance Act and the proposed Bill and suggestions will be received for possible changes to the Draft. The Consultation is a coming together of policy makers, parents, Magistrates, Social workers, Police Officers among other invitees.
Consultation on the OECS Draft Family Model Bills is part of the process leading to the enactment of the Family Bills.

President of The National Rounders Committee, Abraham Browne, says the organization is gearing up for the opening of the 2016 National Rounders League.
Fine Foods Inc and the Dominica National Lottery are the headline Sponsors of this year’s league dubbed “The Giant Malt 2016 National Rounders League”.
Some eighteen teams have already expressed interest in participating in the league and the Formal Opening is scheduled for this Sunday July 3rd 2016 at Lindo Park in Goodwill from 9:30a.m. Addresses will be given by key officials in the ministry of Sports, followed by a ball o rama among the participating teams.
Currently the Dubique Strikers are the defending champions.
DFP General Secretary compliments Former Trinidadian Justice Minister for accurate criticisms towards Speaker Alix Boyd-Knights
Dominica Freedom Party General Secretary, Johnson Boston, has complimented Former Trinidadian Justice Minister Herbert Volney for the accurate criticisms he made toward Dominica’s Speaker of the House Alix Boyd-Knights.
Volney criticised Boyd-Knights of being unable to properly mediate the Sit-ins of the House of Assembly.
Volney also sent a stern warning to Dominicans that their parliamentary democracy in the country is “under threat'.

President of the Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA), Severin McKenzie, says Dominican manufacturers must work collaboratively to become globally competitive.
McKenzie , addressing the launch of Buy Dominica Month Wednesday, says it is humorous that there are manufacturers here who try to hide information from each other as a means to beat their local competitor.
However, he says this makes no sense for an underdeveloped Manufacturing Sector like the one which currently exists in Dominica.
National Security Minister has confidence in newly launched phase 2 Business Entry Reform Project
The Enhanced Online Business Registry which is an integral part of Phase 2 Business Entry Reform Project was launched Wednesday and National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore says in order to continue to boast of living in the age of information, solutions relevant to the era must be applied to manage any challenges which may arrive.
Blackmoore says as a politician, he continues to strive for better service for those he represents. He expressed confidence in the Business Entry Reform Project, and predicted that its goals will be achieved.
