Chairman of the Discover Dominica Authority Benoit Bardouille says the Ministry of Tourism is working hard to see how Dominica can be shaped into one of major players in the Tourism Sector. The Discover Dominica Authority hosted a three day “Enhancing Tour Packages for Voluntourism” workshop this week which included Tour Operators, Dive Operators, Hoteliers and Representatives from different Community Tourism Associations. Education Minister Petter St Jean is calling for the inclusion of more technical subjects in the Convent High School's curriculum. His comments came at the school's graduation ceremony Thursday which was held under the theme "With Strength, Resilience, Courage & Determination- We reach for the Stars." A food security cash transfer is next on the cards for Dominica say World Food Programme (WFP)6/29/2018 The World Food Program says that a food security cash transfer is next on the cards for Dominica. The WFP arrived in Dominica shortly after hurricane Maria and is well known for its Joint emergency cash transfer. This cash transfer is a collaborative effort with UNICEF and the Ministry of Social Services, and ran from December 2017 for three months and has distributed over 8 million Dollars to thousands of vulnerable people in Dominica. Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne held bilateral and diplomatic talks with Venezuela’s foreign minister on Tuesday and used the opportunity to talk on ways Antigua and Barbuda and Venezuela could strengthen and deepen their cooperation and diplomatic ties along with possible projects for collaborative implementation.
“The government and people of Antigua and Barbuda stand in solidarity with the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We ask you to continue to defend your democracy, and to continue to support the advancement of the people of Venezuela,” Browne stated in his press interview with teleSUR of Venezuela. The meeting was held as a part of Venezuela’s foreign ministry tour of countries across the region. DFP Executive Member Michael Astaphan is calling on the Traffic department in Dominica, to implement more road safety measures, to reduce the rising rate of vehicular accidents in Dominica. Astaphan mentioned that in many countries, the traffic department has made it mandatory that all vehicles stop 40 feet from the pedestrian crossing, to effectively reduce the chances of vehicular accidents.
