The Senator Ronald T-20 Cricket Tournament is kicks off once again this weekend, and it’s expected to be action packed. This is according Senator Ronald Charles, president of the Ronald Charles T-20 cricket tournament. The leading Team Morne Prosper is looking to receive some serious completion says Charles, as they look to complete the first round of the competition. President of the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) Ltd Josephine Dublin says the institution has been investigating a series of matters, which include the governance of the NCCU Cadence Lypso & CORP-EFF. She says the findings were only received a few days ago, and as such the credit union was not able to have the report in a form to present to the membership at its AGM this week. Agriculture Minister Reginald Austrie is now telling citizens of Dominica to determine whether they want to throw away what they have, for something that they don't know about. Minister for Tourism & Culture Robert Tonge says as his ministry continues to evaluate the performance of the tourism industry, and the roles being played by key players, a firm was contracted to conduct a mystery shopping project. The objective of conducting this project he says was to improve the level of service rendered by taxi drivers, tour operators and hoteliers. Former Dominican Sports Journalist, Sharome Burton is hoping to represent Dominica in both regional and international Cycling races. Burton recently placed 10thoverall in the Men’s category of the ‘Hotter N’ Hell 100’ cycling event in the United States. The event took place last weekend in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he is a student at Midwestern State University (MSU). He competed along with 60 licensed racers and performed before more than ten thousand spectators.
“In the future…I look to compete in some more and gain some ranking points to upgrade my categories and hopefully, by the end of it all, I would be strong enough, in my opinion, to compete regionally when time allows, and even internationally when Dominica is able to get some representation at regional and international events.” DPSU President Steve Joseph contends that although Dominica purportedly has political independence, it falls short of having economic independence. Speaking on the DPSU program on Q95 on Wednesday night, Joseph voiced his opinion that despite having sovereignty, a mindset of colonialism persists. Joseph believes these are some effects of a colonialism mindset that still linger. Meantime, Joseph contends that the values which should be promoted in the country are not being discussed sufficiently.
