Immunologist Dr Swinburne Augustine cautions Dominicans to do better research as regards the significance of the Covid-19 Vaccinebefore making decisions to abandon medicinal assistance to fight a disease.

This as conspiracy theorists claim that vaccines are ineffective, and more destructive than the virus it is supposed to help the immune system fight.

Dr. Augustine says the work that immunologists do needs to be respected and appreciated, as science has shown that the earth contains thousands of viruses in various countries, which will become transmissible from animals to humans in varying ways.

The Dominica Business Forum Inc (DBF Inc) says it is continuing to facilitate discussions on significant issues affecting the business, socio-economical and socio-political landscapes of our beloved island.

That’s according to an official DBF Inc release, which states their efforts to create a forum for open, frank and respectful discussions on getting appropriate solutions and mitigating measures to deal with and curtail both the spread and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, following their leadership in areas such as electoral reform.

The DBF Inc, encourages calm, frank and respectful discussions on matters of national interest without seeking the demise of those with opposing views, and calls on all making public statements to be sensitive and to do so responsibly.

The Association says, “It is clear that the issue of mandatory vaccination, or the proposals to curtail the rights to individual freedom of those who are not vaccinated against COVID-19, is very sensitive and has the potential of self-destructive actions and descent to anarchy.”

The DBF Inc therefore calls on the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investments to lead an all-inclusive educational discussion on the data available on the impact and benefits of vaccinations against the COVID-19 pandemic.
