A two-day workshop on “Protecting visitors to Dominica in times of crisis Kicked off today at the Prevo Cinema, Ballroom Conference Room in Roseau. This year's Community Health Aide Graduation Ceremony saw 16 young women graduate after completing a 6-month training program in the field of health. The Ministry of Health in collaboration with PAHO sponsored a 6-month training programme which commenced on October 12, 2020 and ended on April 8, 2021. The ceremony was held today Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 10 am at the All-Saints University. The program was in response to recommendations emanated from a comprehensive assessment of the Dominica Healthcare system and an effort to further strengthen the primary health care services of the country. The curriculum was designed to provide the trainees with the knowledge and skills which will enable them to perform as health aids, some which included, anatomy, Physiology, first aid, pharmacology, Nursing concepts, Psychology and sociology applied to community health, just to name a few. The 2019 election petition matter goes to the appeals court today in relation to the 2019 general elections via virtual hearing. Prime Minister Skerrit says his government is taking steps to restore flights to Dominica ahead of the commencement of construction of the DLP government proposed International Airport, and that discussions and engagements with the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority, and IKO are ongoing. He added that government has decided to engage ECCA and IKO every step of the way, to ensure that all standards required by them are met.
