A National Public Meeting is to be held on Saturday in Marigot, dubbed “Defending Dominica against the threat of Modern Slavery”, toDiscuss and air in-depth revelations about Dominica’s CBI funds being used to construct the highly anticipated international Airport. As it stands, organizers say Montreal Management Company (MMCE) is gearing up to be the developer of the International Airport with the Dominican citizenry being left to pay the bill. Speaking on Q95’s Talk on the Block Program today, Marigot MP and Leader of the Opposition Lennox stated that Dominicans should not accept one man’s decision to hold their CBI funds under his private control along with his friends, only to give it back to them in the form of a loan. Based on their Legal Findings, the UWP says as it relates to the funds from the CBI program, there is a viable legal case to be tried, as it moves forward with court action against the Government. This comes from former Deputy Leader of the UWP Attorney Joshua Francis, who made that Statement in light of the recent revelation by UWP President Isaac Baptist who stated that the UWP are already progressing with their action to ensure that the DLP government accounts for the millions of dollars made through the sale of passports in the CBI program, which is not being placed in the consolidated funds, but rather placed in the private hands of the PM and his friends. Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Browne reveals that Indian economic offender Mehul Choksi captured by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Dominica could be extradited within the next 48 hours. Choksi is wanted by Indian Law authorities for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and dishonesty including delivery of property, corruption, and money laundering, allegedly surrounding some $2 Billion Dollars. Mehul Choksi Lawyers of Mehul Choksi reveal possible kidnapping, human rights violations and Police brutality and are calling for public awareness on this highly controversial detainment. Speaking on Q95’s Hot Seat program this morning, Attorney Wayne Marsh revealed information about the detainment of Mr. Choksi. Marsh claimed that Choksi has been denied legal representation by orders from higher ups, beaten severely, abducted and brought to Dominica, and has since been in police custody. He revealed that Mr. Choksi is fearful for his life as he has not any contact with or been in communication with anyone as he has been denied any access to speak by Dominican authorities receiving orders from their higher ups. Executive member of Caribbean Agriculture Network, Dr Dave Lloyd has divulged the results of the DNA testing of Dominica’s various Cocoa Accessions. The samples were collected across Dominica using GPS tagging to avoid the loss of location for specific cocoa samples after a disaster. These samples were packaged & sent to a research center in Trinidad & Tobago. Dr Lloyd told media at yesterday’s conference, Dominica is now in a unique situation, where it has the opportunity to capitalize on a niche market. It has now been reconfirmed that Dominica has one of the best variants of Cocoa and accessions in the World. The DNA results of our cocoa species reveal 53 of the 60 accessions sent for testing were completely “Off-grid” and literally unknown to the rest of the world – in other words, Dominica has some of the rearrest and richest species of Cocoa in the world! The Ministry Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence will administer the annual Grade Six National Assessment (G6NA) on Thursday, May 27 and Friday, May 28, 2021. This year, 900 students, 433 girls and 467 boys, will write the exams across 68 centers around the island. The exams are set to begin at 7:45am on both days. The Ministry will continue to observe the Covid-19 protocols, however, 3 feet distancing rather than the 6 feet will be observed this year. All other protocols such as the wearing of masks and sanitization will be observed. The proposal to contract with MMCE for the International Airport which will require Dominica to borrow its own CBI money, is absolutely unacceptable and will be vigorously Opposed. This comes from the Leader of the Opposition Lennox Linton Speaking on this Morning’s Hot Seat Program. Mr. Linton said this a Major Issue before us that the public needs to be aware of, and be involved in, to prevent this contract from being signed. Resident Ambassador of Dominica to the People's Republic of China, Martin Charles has said that the relationship between the two countries has been elevated through his appointment to that position. Charles said that the mutual, cordial and friendly relations have made it possible to pursue many developmental goals. His comments came at the opening of the new Cardiology Department at the country's main hospital. He said this is just another testament of his statement as to elevated relations with China.
