Police seeking public assistance in investigations following discovery of human remains in Layou11/30/2016 Law enforcement officials here are seeking public assistance in investigations, following the discovery of human skeletal remains and clothing items which were found in a shallow grave in the vicinity of the Layou River. The discovery was made on November 26 2016.
Police PRO, Sergeant Pelham Jno Baptiste, is asking anyone with information which can assist in investigations to contact the Criminal Investigations Department or Crime Stoppers Dominica.

Three men arrested and charged after anti-drug operation in Campbell on Friday 25th November11/30/2016 Meanwhile, a number of search warrants executed on Friday November 25th 2016 in Campbell, has resulted in the arrest of three adult males of that community.
Police PRO, Sergeant Pelham Jno Baptiste, says 67 rounds of .22 ammunition, 5 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition, 2,060 grams of cannabis seeds, 2,452 grams of cannabis weed and 5 cannabis plants were discovered and seized on the premises of McPherson Alphonse. Meanwhile, the police also discovered and seized 460g of cannabis seeds and 980g of cannabis weed on the premises of David Simon and 49g of cannabis weed and 14 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition on the premises of Tommy Joseph. Government could be reviewing its legislation as it relates to abandoned and dilapidated properties in the city of Roseau. Youth, Sports, Culture & Constituency Empowerment Minister Justina Charles says the issue of abandoned buildings in the city, continues to pose a problem for the Government. She says they are hoping the owners of these properties will come forward, instead of waiting for the Government to review its legislation on these matters. PM Roosevelt Skerrit is now claiming that the majority of Dominicans do not want to pay taxes11/30/2016 According to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, the majority of Dominicans do not want to pay their taxes. He made these remarks during the contract signing for the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement, and the implementation agreement for the China-aided west coast road post Erika rehabilitation project, last week. He thanked the Government of China for assisting in developing the infrastructure of Dominica; saying that without that assistance, the Government would not be able to finance such infrastructures. A Meteorological Service advisory indicates that the Flood Watch for Dominica has been discontinued11/30/2016 An official update from The Meteorological Service, indicates that the Flood Watch for Dominica has been discontinued, with effect from 6pm yesterday Tuesday 29th November. The advisory stated that imagery indicated a gradual reduction in shower activity in the vicinity of Dominica, during the afternoon.
However, the area remains moist and unstable. Therefore, persons in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks, are advised to continue to exercise caution. Bernard Wiltshire reacts to DPP decision to discontinue 5-year-old passport fraud case against him11/30/2016 Photo Credit: TheDominican.net Dominica’s Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) recently wrote an opinion indicating that the state is no longer interested in the matter of an alleged passport fraud court case, involving former DLP Attorney General Bernard Wiltshire, and four (4) others, after 5 years. This means Mr Wiltshire and others accused, are now free to return to their normal lives, after five years of anxiety and aggravation. This matter has been before the courts since 2011, and was thrown out twice for want of prosecution. The so-called scam allegedly occurred between August 25, 2005 and March 31, 2011. It was reported that 40 forged passports were identified by police. However Former Attorney General Bernard Wiltshire says he knew that case would have never pulled through, as the charge brought against him was brought out of malice, and was completely false. UWP Leader sees no merit in Government talk of constructing a New National Hospital in Marigot11/30/2016 UWP Leader Lennox Linton is of the view that there is no merit in recent statements made by ministers of government, regarding the construction of a New National Hospital in Marigot. Linton believes that too much time has already gone by in creating a design for the Hospital, which was first shut down in 2014 because of a severe termite infestation. At a press conference on May 6, 2015, Health Minister Dr. Kenneth Darroux said a new hospital for Marigot was still on the cards. He said “Building a new hospital for Marigot is a policy decision that government has taken. “If you look at the Labour Party manifesto, a new hospital for Marigot is to be built for a number of reasons.” Linton is calling on the DLP Government to take a more serious approach toward building major facilities in Dominica. UWP Leader wants DLP Government to stop giving State Funds to failed candidates to keep campaigning11/30/2016 And Leader of the United Workers Party, Lennox Linton, is calling on Youth, sports, Social Services and Community Empowerment Minister, Justina Charles, to address a situation involving failed DLP candidates receiving state funds, to openly campaign in the constituencies that were won by UWP representatives.

In a recent handover ceremony, Engineer at the NTRC, Mr. George James presented the equipment to the Principal & Chairpersons of the board, and informed the students about the role & functions of the NTRC & USF.
