On Thursday, Senior Counsel Israel Khan and two assistant lawyers were retained from Trinidad along with the office of the DPP are representing the DLP government in the court matter of obstruction and incitement during the UWP meeting on February 7, 2017 against Opposition Leader Lennox Linton, General Secretary of UWP Nicholas George, Hon. Joshua Francis, Mr. Edison James, Hon. Dr. Thomson Fontaine and Hon. Joseph Isaac. Everyone was properly served with the exception of Mr. James. Joseph Isaac is the only person on island not present at court.
Senior Khan was shocked to learn that Isaac is government minister and not present at court for the hearing of the matter. The complaints were brought by Inspector George Theophile of the Dominica Police Force. The charges were only made available to the DPP, Evalina Baptiste a few days ago. Francis, Linton and George pleaded not non guilty to the charges. Francis is being represented by Mrs Gina Dyer, Henry Dyer and Senior Counsel Justin Simon. Linton, George, Fontaine and James are being represented by Gildon Richards, Ronald Charles and Julien Prevost. The matter was adjourned to March 28, 2019. Attorney Richards made a request for disclosure. Magistrate ruled for disclosure to be made by the last working day of December 2018. Magistrate Riviere presided on the matter.
