Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party and Economist, Kent Vital, is disgusted by the response of the Roosevelt Skerrit Administration to the Joint CARICOM - Commonwealth - OAS Special Mission Electoral Reform report, which urged that reforms be done before the next General Election. The Mission was invited by the Government to visit Dominica from August 6 to 9, 2019, to look at the electoral reform system. On Behalf of the government, Attorney General Levi Peter said while the government welcomes certain aspects of the Commission’s recommendation that are more in tune with its own thinking, the government is unable to accept aspects of the recommendations contained in the report, in particular, the recommendation in relation to the house to house re-verification exercise. Vital told Q95 FM, this is dirty tactic to maintain the current system which is now internationally confirmed as a flawed system in Dominica, for the benefit of manipulating votes. The DFP Leader went on to list the other recommendations provide by the Joint CARICOM - Commonwealth - OAS Special Mission report, which advised the Roosevelt Skerrit administration on the same Electoral issues that were raised by the Freedom Party and the United Workers Party over the past ten years. Meantime, Vital insists PM Skerrit is placing the country’s police officers in jeopardy by provoking the people Vital cautioned police officers on the ‘Freedom and You’ program yesterday evening not to allow themselves be used by the Prime Minister.
