DMA hosts its 6th Annual AGM today, after experiencing mixed results and major challenges in 20163/27/2017 The Dominica Manufacturers Association will convene its 6th Annual General Meeting today at the Conference room of the Garraway Hotel, under the theme, "Making Dominican Products Export Ready".
According to a release, 2016 saw mixed results for the manufacturing industry, with the sector continuing to be confronted with major challenges. The Association says during this year, focus will be placed on improving the quality standards of Dominican products, and they will pursue the establishment of Buy Dominica shops in foreign markets with large Dominican populations. The AGM will commence at 3pm, and will feature guest speaker Dr. Peter Alfred PhD. Dr. Alfred is a Dominican national based in Jamaica, who has done extensive work related to the export market throughout the Caribbean. Other speakers at the meeting will be Commerce Minister Roselyn Paul, Roseau Central MP, Joseph Isaac, and President of the Dominica Manufacturers Association, Severin McKenzie, who will present a report on the activities of the Association during the last year, along with an update on a proposal submitted to the Government of Dominica, for the enhancement of the manufacturing sector.
