Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore says Dominica has embraced Haitian Nationals to the island seeking a better way of life. However, he says it is a reasonable expectation for all Haitian Nationals to respect the laws of the country. A number of Haitian nationals have been given citizenship, permanent residency as well as work permits so that they can live dignified lives in Dominica. In the recent past a number of Haitians along with Dominicans have been arrested in some neighbouring islands for illegally entering their countries by boat from Dominica. Blackmoore says to Dominicans who aid and abet the illegal transport of Haitian nationals, they are equally responsible & culpable under the law.
