Recently the DLP Government’s Attorney General Levi Peter appears to be dismissing the opposition’s request for additional time to prepare and present a detailed document, outlining their party’s recommendations for amendments to the DLP’s proposed Anti Terrorism Act. On 25th June 2018 the DLP government sought to pass an Anti Terrorism Act, which according to Opposition Leader Lennox Linton, DFP Leader Kent Vital and PPOD Leader Saphire Carrington, seeks to make certain rights of citizens illegal, such as the right to protest. Prior to that date the DLP government announced it would attempt to table all three readings of the bill and have it passed in parliament on the above-mentioned date. However, due to protests by citizens on the day of the Fourth Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Parliament under the Commonwealth of Dominica Constitution, only the first reading of the Bill was tabled during that sitting UWP Leader and Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition Lennox Linton says, his party disagrees with Mr Peter, that the deadline set for delivering recommendations, from the 25th of June to the 15th July 2018, re the Anti terrorism Act, was enough time.
