Leader of the United Workers Party Team Dominica Lennox Linton spoke out last week on the Incitement charges that have been laid against him by the DLP administration. That controversial Court matter was adjourned again at Thursday’s court appearance; this time to June 18, 2019. Linton was charged with incitement and obstruction stemming from an alleged incident which occurred after a UWP public meeting held on February 7, 2017 on Kennedy Avenue in Roseau, in the area of the Government Headquarters. Also charged with obstruction was attorney-at-law and deputy leader of the UWP Joshua Francis; Joseph Isaac, the former UWP Member of Parliament, who is now a member of the Roosevelt Skerrit Cabinet; former senior police officer, and general secretary of the UWP, Nicholas George. At the last hearing, the magistrate postponed the case against Isaac and others who were charged with obstruction, without setting a date for their reappearance in court. Linton says the court is now in the process of a preliminary inquiry, and was supposed to begin on Tuesday 11th June, but that did not happen because the prosecution’s witnesses to be crossed-examined were not available to the court, so as a result the matter has been adjourned to Tuesday June 18, 2019. Linton says this is a case where everybody knows there was no incitement, but the state is spending millions of dollars on a case that is absolutely void of any merit. He says the state’s priorities are misplaced, and that they rather pay high priced lawyers to prosecute Linton, than fix the court premises. Leader of the United Workers Party Lennox Linton
