UWP Leader Lennox Linton wants Dominica’s Prime Minister to come clean about Petro Caribe Monies11/23/2017 United Workers Party Leader Lennox Linton is of the view that Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit lied to him and to the Dominican Parliament.
Linton said he stood up in parliament in 2015, and asked the Prime Minister to clarify the amount of debt was owed to Venezuelan Company, Petro Caribe. He says Skerrit stated that there was no debt between the two countries, under the arrangements with Petro Caribe. Linton’s concern came about when the Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs made an announcement at the CARICOM UN High Level Pledging Conference on 21st November 2017, in New York. Jorge Arreaza, Venezuela’s minister of foreign affairs, said he had been instructed by President Nicolas Maduro to announce the move to forgive Dominica’s outstanding debt in the sum of US$100 Million, in a gesture of solidarity between the two nations. The UWP Leader is demanding that an explanation be given to the people of Dominica, on the matter. He spoke to Q95 FM on Wednesday.
