Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce (DAIC), Kenneth Green, is arguing that “…. People don’t know how to talk to each other, they only know how to talk at each other, and that’s a problem in Dominica.” Green made this statement in relation to the need for proper dialogue between average persons in society and the higher levels of society. He said, this inability to properly communicate with each other places us in an “echo chamber” of similar views which don’t aid in our progress. Greene says civil dialogue is always better than a shouting match as It relates to communications. Green says the DAIC is Politicly Agnostic and works with whichever political party is government is in power. He made this remark in response to the question posed to him, “would you ever meet with the leader of the opposition?” Mr. Kenneth Green, President of the DAIC

The main opposition Democratic Labour Party (DLP) is calling on the ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP) to get down to business in administering the affairs of the island instead of engaging in a blame game, nine months after the general election.
The BLP won all the 30 seats in the May 24, 2018 general election and Prime Minister Mia Mottley became the first woman to head a government in this Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country. The DLP said in a statement, "After nine months in office, it is time for the Mottley administration to get on with the job they were elected to do instead of apportioning blame to the former government whenever solutions evade them." The government has blamed the former DLP administration for the economic woes confronting the island. It has since had to enter into a US$290 million Extended Fund Facility (EEF) with the international monetary fund (IMF) and has significantly cut down expenditure within the public service by retrenching many works. |
