Government announces an Olympic size swimming pool to be added to proposed Indoor Sports Facility3/30/2017 An Olympic sized swimming pool is expected to be one of the features of an Indoor Sporting Facility, now being proposed by the DLP Government. That facility is said to have been on the cards of the DLP since 2014, and now PM Skerrit is promising that construction will begin in 2017.
Skerrit says the addition of a swimming pool shows Government's interest in the future of sports in Dominica.

DFP Executive Member Kent Vital calling on Government leaders and residents to respect Dominica laws3/30/2017 Dominica Freedom Party Executive member Kent Vital, is calling on all Dominicans and leaders to respect the law. Vital says he has observed acts of lawlessness being committed by members of the Government, and that such acts are now being practiced by the citizenry.
He says if leaders abide by the laws, and the policies and procedures contained in the constitution when running the country’s affairs, they will have a better chance of ensuring economic success for Dominica. He added that the Dominica Freedom Party has the right individuals to govern Dominica, and to bring it to prosperity and high morale. Roseau Central MP Joseph Isaac says Senator Robert Tonge has been a failure as Tourism Minister3/29/2017 Roseau Central MP, Joseph Isaac has openly criticized Senator Robert Tonge, saying he has been a failure as a Tourism Minister. According to Isaac, some of the programs introduced by Tonge have not had any significant impact on the economy, or the city of Roseau. He made specific mention of a program of the Tourism Minister, which engages a number of persons to clean the city daily on a shift system. Isaac considers this program to be a waste of public funds, as there are already persons employed on a full time basis through the Roseau City Council, and Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation, to maintain the upkeep of the city. Isaac added that Tourism Minister Tonge displayed a lack of intellectual capacity and empathy for local entrepreneurs, following his recent statements criticizing the local private sector, and Dominican professionals.
Roseau South MP calls on Dominicans to be disciples for change, to enlighten the weak & oppressed3/29/2017 And Notwithstanding a decision by the Police Chief to deny the UWP permission to hold a 5000-man march, Roseau South MP Joshua Francis says the party is not deterred in getting its message across. Francis, has called on all Dominicans to come out to support the UWP at its meetings geared at enlightening and educating the people. He says, "What we need is a movement to inspire....to remove that veil over the weak and oppressed". He asks Dominicans to be disciples for change. Meanwhile, Francis says careful consideration must be given when calling for electoral reform. He says, electoral reform must be introduced in an environment where a level playing field is created, so that no party holds any unfair advantage over another. Meanwhile, member of the Electoral Commission Hillary Shillingford says the DLP government is doing all it can to cover its corruption through handouts. However, he calls on the UWP to stand united to guarantee a victory.

Shillingford, speaking on Q95's Hot Seat Wednesday, said things seem to be moving forward, but there are persons within the system who are attempting to stall the process. He said, "We will see reform, but we will see certain things that are not fair, as it relates to attempting to give unfair advantage". The Dominican born off-spinner, Shane Shillingford led a one-man assault against the Hurricanes, and was instrumental in pushing the Volcanoes to victory in what was an exciting contest. According to a release, Shillingford claimed three for 42 at the start of the Hurricane’s innings then returned later in the innings to wrap up the Hurricanes with six for 78 on Sunday to record his milestone of 500 wickets in first class cricket. On Saturday 25th March, just one day before Shillingford set his record, Volcanoes teammate Sunil Ambris also set a new record for highest score of a Windwards batsman in Regional first class cricket. That's according to the Dominica Labour Party Caretaker for the Salisbury Constituency Nicholls Esprit. Esprit told a town hall meeting on Monday evening, that it is not only supporters of the Dominica Labour Party, who will be recipients of the washroom facilities. Additionally, Esprit said priority will be given to single parents who may not be able to meet the cost of repairs. Meantime, Esprit revealed that following TS Erika, the Government has spent over EC$100,000 in renovating the Coulibistrie Government school. Government of Dominica now says it is committed to constructing new homes for residents of Dublanc3/29/2017 The Government of Dominica says it is committed to constructing new homes for residents of Dublanc, especially those who are living on the coastline. This was announced by PM Roosevelt Skerrit. Skerrit had said that the Government would pay the full cost of relocating residents who are willing to move to safer grounds. MP for Roseau Central Joseph Isaac says the two meetings organized for Thursday March 30th 2017, are going to be engaging and massive.
Isaac says the first meeting on the Pottersville savannah at 5pm, will be remind citizens of the plans and policies of the UWP, and the other meeting in Lagoon, will reiterate the reasons for asking for the resignations of the current DLP Administration cabinet from public office. Isaac is also calling on the general public to attend both meetings.
