Walk Organizers say today Wednesday morning and possibly every Wednesday at 10 am, will be designated as a time to walk on the right side of history. Outgoing Bishop of the Diocese of Roseau & Incoming Metropolitan Archbishop of Castries St. Lucia, Gabriel Malzaire, speaks to the position of the church on the issue of ‘Divorce. Malzaire says the concept of Divorce is not new, but the church honors the guidelines for marriage as outlined in the scripture. He added that Divorce can only occur civilly and not religiously. Minister for Education Octavia Alfred is calling for Peace to be taught at schools, as Peace Education will benefit our society. Alfred stated that Peace Education is part of the national curriculum, as the aim is to groom citizens that will positively impact our country. She stated that teachers are being trained with April being the catalyst for a more aggressive teacher training program to help teach about peace. She says the move is also aimed at targeting churches and other outside school programs where the government and Ministry of Education will create programs and clubs talking about peace. Former Senator under the Dame Mary Eugenia Charles Administration and now DFP Chairman Johnson Boston wants Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux over the Dominica/Syria Diplomatic Relations fiasco. Boston made this call while speaking at NJAM’s ‘Enough is Enough’ Press conference on Monday. According to Boston, the excuse provided by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, about Dr Darroux’s claims of ‘not having any knowledge of how former Permanent Representative to the UN, Loreen Bannis-Roberts, establishing Diplomatic Relations with Syria’, is highly questionable. Boston referenced Prime Minister Skerrit’s acknowledgement that Dr. Kenneth Darroux revealed on March 14, 2022, that his Syria Counterpart, sometime in March 2020, and expressed interest in building Diplomatic Relations, but Dr Darroux claims that on his part, he did not take up the request at that time. Minister of Health & New Health Investment, Dr. Irving McIntyre announced new relaxed Covid Travel Restrictions into Dominica, for the Cruise Sector, and all ports of entry. Dr. McIntyre says testing on arrival for symptomatic travelers will remain in effect, also travelers are no longer required to fill the pre-travel forms online. Executive Member and Vice President of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), Earl Bruno, says there is now a need for unity among Dominicans to resolve the country’s National problems. Bruno also spoke of his group’s collective reaction to the actions of Russia against Ukraine, and condemned the action of the DLP administration, in signing Diplomatic relations with Syria on March 7, 2022, then attempting to suspend those relations, on March 18, 2022.
