According to Former Attorney General, Bernard Wiltshire, all democratic forces in Dominica must decide that there will be no more elections until the country's voting system has been cleansed. He went on to say that that is the stance we should all be taking and that we must all adopt, in order to defend our liberty as a nation. He further stated that there should be an immediate decision taken, and the administration should be informed that there won't be any further elections in Dominica until electoral reform has been completed. Wiltshire says, “The problem with the CCJ decision is that they fudge an issue because they themselves did not follow through on their own decisions. And so, in the next stage, we are going to find ourselves in the exact position we are in now”. Former Attorney General, Bernard Wiltshire

Marketing and Project Management Expert and Co-Host of ‘The Other Side’ Program, Kenneth Green, believes that sports is something that needs a lot more attention in future budgets, and part of the issue is that Dominica spends lots of time dealing with disasters & other mitigating circumstances, but sports is one of the easiest things in which one can fall victim to incidents. Green added that whilst we are always thinking about all the big things like the Windsor Park Sports Stadium and possibly building indoor tracks, each of the communities must have a playing field, and the government has to go back deep into sports planning to rehabilitate the playing fields around the island. Social activist Zed Lloyd contends that although politicians have the power and prestige to attack the judiciary and create division, we as citizens have not properly internalized or reconsolidated the concepts of public opinion and law. He doesn't think we have thought through the possibility that our civic engagement could actually affect the courts. He added that the public can contribute to the independence of the CCJ and OECS courts by advocating for and exercising their civic rights. The people play a crucial role in achieving these postures of independence. Mr. Lloyd argues that undertaking electoral reforms is a milestone. However, he is of the view that Dominicans are not mentally prepared for something of that stature. He used the people of Barbados as an example, saying that they had undergone a mental metamorphosis that allowed them to develop a sense of political and legal consciousness, which allowed the court to stand in that position. Lloyd questions, have we put forth the necessary effort to ensure that, as a country, we can now completely comprehend the responsibility that having electoral reforms places on us? Social Activist, Zed Lloyd.
