According to Mechanical Engineer Anthony Drigo, Dominica needs institutions that can create norms and standards for conducting business, such as a professional engineering society that will be in charge of reviewing the credentials of prospective engineers looking for work in their particular professional field in Dominica. He was speaking on the Global View on Q on Tuesday evening. Drigo continued, saying that in the case of an investor, it would be foreseeable that if he submitted a project that met the requirements, set up by the societies, the project would get approved and move forward regardless of whether the investor supported the government or not. In her introductory remarks during Wednesday's regular update on the WCMF event, DFC Ag Festivals & Events Manager Samantha Letang advised on some of the modifications made to the main stage performances of the festival. Letang announced that, as seen from the main stage, everything is on schedule and ready to go from this evening or tomorrow. She said the World Creole Music Festival 2022 is going to be a fantastic event, with 23 A-line performers featured on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in addition to the hosts and DJs on the main stage. She advised everyone to keep the island clean and green, thereby reminding visitors that Dominica is the Caribbean's Nature island. Health, Wellness & New Health Investment Minister Dr Irving McIntyre says that the 24 hours of services provided by the island's healthcare providers and their close proximity to health centers make it simpler to handle emergencies on-site rather than rushing to the hospital for treatment. He added that experts including environmental health officials, pharmacists, and others may be located in each health district around the island. Dominica’s proposed International Airport is expected to be functional, practical and welcoming within the region. Mr. Johnson’s statements came at the Meeting Dialogue with Diasporans and Ministers of Government yesterday. Johnson gave a brief overview of what the airport is to entail as well as some of the works done. He stated that prior to Hurricane Maria, millions were already saved in a special account to start construction, however he used all the money to help families impacted by the hurricane. Peaceologist Dr Peter St. jean wants Dominica to grow a profitable peace industry, while also emphasizing the country's culture of peace and overall mental wellness Dr. Peter St. Jean believes that Dominica should focus on creating a peaceful "Nature Isle" in order to achieve sustained prosperity and economic and environmental peace, rather than only addressing the expense of crime. Jeff Bellot, owner of Carifeed, is adamant that Dominica must unite as a nation, enlist a group of its people from around the world, to carefully examine its available resources and help decide how to make the best use of them. He believes these resources can be used to ensure food security in the nation is assured and balanced, and create sustainable and well-paying jobs at the same time. Convention Director Meritta Hyacinth was elected as 2023 National Vice President for JCI West Indies during the Annual General Assembly held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Goodwill Parish Hall in Dominica. Development Specialist and Cultural Administrator Sobers Esprit says there cannot be a team of people managing the WCMF who are afraid to make decisions. He says these people must be strong,competent and highly skilled and empowered, and allowed to do their work as festival planners. Esprit was a panelist at a discussion at UWI Last night on the WCMF. Esprit says a special focus must be placed on music education, calling for more music centers around the island.
