A Dominican entertainer stands the possibility of being sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment in Grenada after he was arrested and charged by Police with one count of indecent assault.
36-year-old Shane ‘Sukie Burn Brain’ Edwards was scheduled to appear as an entertainment act at an event on the weekend at the National Stadium but instead, he was detained by Police on Friday night after a guest at the hotel where he was residing, made the criminal complaint against him. He was picked up on Friday night and was charged on Saturday, 26 November 2022, the same day as the event. He did not receive bail and thus was unable to perform at the show. He was brought before a magistrate in St George’s on Monday morning. He was denied bail and remanded to Richmond Hill prison. His lawyer Peter David said that he will return to Court on 1st December 2022. According to Grenada’s Criminal Code “indecent assault” means an assault committed in circumstances of indecency. It is a summary offence that carries a maximum term of 5 years’ imprisonment.

Former Grenada Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs Dr Francis Alexis says he has moved to the local high court to get an order to impose a prison sentence on a Dominica-born attorney-at-law, Cabral Douglas who has made damaging allegations of bribery against him.
Dr. Alexis through his local attorney-at-law Ruggles Ferguson has approached the court for a Committal order against Douglas who is believed to be now living in Australia. At the center of the spat between the two lawyers in an allegation made by Douglas that bribery took place between Alexis and former OECS Chief Justice Sir Dennis Byron in a book written by the former Grenada government minister. The matter is currently before the court. However, Alexis is contending that Douglas violated a court order in which he was not supposed to repeat the alleged bribery allegation. Sagicor South-East, Connect 767 East Central, and Promex Harlem United have all qualified for the DFA President's Cup quarterfinals. Glanvillia was defeated 7-1 by Sagicor South-East at the Dublanc playing field. For South-East, Josley Prince scored three goals, and Davone George notched two. One of the National Youth Council of Dominica's most active reformed youth councils, the Eastern District Youth Council, hosted an outreach activity for the young people impacted by the recent tropical depression in the various communities on the east of the island.
