Any democratic system needs active politics and a well-oiled political engine, according to sociologist Simeon Joseph. The outcome of Dr. Thomson Fontaine being legitimately elected as leader, according to his close observation of the United Workers Party (UWP) delegates' convention on Sunday, bodes well for democracy inside the political organization. Joseph complimented Dr. Fontaine and acknowledged the successful conclusion of the convention. In his explanation, Joseph expanded on suspicions that had surfaced before the convention which had suggested that there would have been berancor and division, but no such thing surfaced. Joseph extended his best wishes to the newly elected leader and his new executive, and believes they will work effectively as a team to improve the lives of their supporters and, ultimately, the lives of the people of Dominica.
