The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) Inc. held its 40th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Three new members were elected to join the Board of Directors, alongside four previously elected members. The election of officers took place on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
The newly constituted Board of Directors of the DAPD includes Judy Sango- President, Sonia Julien Blackwell - Vice-President, Seraphine Jno. Lewis – Secretary, Nathalie Murphy – Treasurer, Loik Charles - Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, Irma Raymond-Joseph and Roy Labad complete the seven-member board who will govern the affairs and operations of the Association.

For the 2024 examination season, Senior Education Officer (Ag.) & Local Registrar at the Ministry of Education, Magalie Celestine, informed the media that 150 private candidates began their Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams on May 2, 2024. She added that by the end of the Exam season - From June 10, 2024- 639 school students will seat the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC) Exam. Dominica’s Grade Six National Assessment will begin on 23rd May & culminate on 24th May 2024. That’s according to the Education Officer for Curriculum Measurement & Evaluation, Krishna Robin, who stated that 835 candidates have been confirmed to seat the exams.She emphasized that the exams begin at 7:45 am each day and four assessments namely (Language Arts Paper 1, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science and Technology assessments) will be done online. The Dominica Bureau Of Standards (DBOS) is hosting an Introduction For Quality Management Systems Training. The training began on May 13th and will culminate on the 17th 2024. The training is a result of collaboration between the CARICOM Regional Organisation For Standards and Quality (CROSQ), The German National Meteorology Institute, & the Dominica Bureau of Standards. There are two parts to the training: the general requirement component & a training trainers component. The exercise forms part of the TBT component of the eleventh EDF-EPA program. On Tuesday, the French Copyright Society honored Cadence legend Gordon Henderson in a ceremony at its headquarters in France, celebrating his 50 years of active involvement in the Society of Authors, Composers and Editors of Music (SACEM). Henderson joined SACEM in 1974 and attained the highest rank of "permanent member" in 1999, a status achieved by meeting a specific income threshold. In an interview with state-owned radio, Henderson expressed his gratitude for the recognition, noting that the award is significant not only for him but also for the Caribbean region.
