‘For many years the Roosevelt Skerrit Administration shied away from implementing proper Electoral Reform in Dominica.’ Since the 2005 elections, Electoral Reform has never been implemented, allowing for use of questionable actions by Labour Party Officials to secure the win. On August 31, 2020, Prime Minister Skerrit said cabinet had approved the engagement of Caribbean Jurist Sir Charles Michael Dennis Byron, on an EC$450,000 contract plus expenses, to serve as a sole commissioner to advance efforts towards electoral reform in Dominica. Since making that announcement, the Prime minister and his administration has been accused of misuse of public funds and efforts to mislead the population, especially after sending an additional invitation to the OAS and the Commonwealth to once again assist Byron with something they already did for Dominica in 2014 and 2019. Based on recent reports of the Commonwealth Secretariat, the OAS and Dominica Civil Society Group, recommendations were already provided, to significantly improve the Election process in Dominica in the past two Election years.
