DFP standing firm on decision against coalition to contest elections with United Workers Party (UWP)8/31/2017 Dominica Freedom Party Leader Kent Vital says the is standing by its decision not to enter into a coalition with the United Workers Party (UWP), to contest elections, so as to protect the “brand” that the DFP has created for itself. He confirmed that decision at a press conference held on Tuesday 29th 2017. He said, “we have no such plans on collaboration, in terms of coming with a joint platform to contest an election. I can guarantee the public that we have no such plans. We have great messages that we want to bring to the people. We want to ensure that those messages get to the people”. He added, “We have been attracting messengers that people can listen to and respond to, and we want to be in a position to continue to do that”. Vital appears to be of the strong view, that the party should be in control of its own approaches, and has dismissed any idea of surrendering what he says they have collectively built as a party. Meantime, Businessman and former Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) Michael Astaphan, has endorsed new DFP Leader Kent Vital, as the best choice to lead the Freedom Party forward, and to provide effective representation of the party to the people of Dominica. Michael Astaphan spoke to the press on Tuesday. Meanwhile the Dominica Freedom Party says it plans to appoint a Diaspora Liaison Officer. That announcement came from Chairman of the DFP Johnson Boston during a press conference on Tuesday. Chairman of the DFP Johnson Boston
