A Synthetic Athletic Track will soon be developed and constructed in Point Round, Portsmouth, according to DLP regime leader Roosevelt Skerrit, who made the announcement during a press conference on Monday morning at the Financial Center. He claims that the public has been informed that the site is currently being explored for the development of the facility, which will aid in the advancement of Dominica's track and field. The Plan of the facility will be presented to the public in due time, Skerrit added. However, the question being asked by many, is on whose land is this track being built? Is it private land? And if so, has that land been acquired and paid for, by Government? Skerrit stated that in two (2) weeks, the public will be told about additional initiatives that the government is planning to undertake, including projects that would boost the country’s tourism sector.
