Gordon Henderson was defined as one of the pioneers of a genre described as a “synthesis of black, primarily West Indian rhythmic patterns.”This as the Discover Dominica Authority gears up to celebrate this July dubbed Cadence-Lypso month.
Dominica will be celebrating Cadence-lypso in collaboration with creole heartbeat magazine, with a season of culture and a 3-day festival, from July 29 to 31.Dominicans are encouraged to join each night to pay tribute to some of the influencers of Cadence at the Windsor Park Stadium forecourt. A cultural experience, Cadence-lypso is a French-Dominican genre of Music with the group Exile One credited as the pioneer. Their leader Gordon Henderson defined the genre as a ""...synthesis of black, primarily West Indian rhythmic patterns."" The music genre blossomed in Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Martinique, and was popularized by bands such as Exile One and the Midnight Groovers.
