Former Agriculture Minister, Atherton Martin, brings to focus, what is described as the ridiculousness of the Skerrit-led DLP Administration, in its obsession with spending all the country’s resources – allocated for various renewable energy projects, in exploring Geothermal Energy, when studies already confirmed the cost effectiveness and time efficiency of other sources of renewable energy projects – such as Photovoltaic, Solar, Wind, and Hydro. Martin contends that the administration clearly did not pay heed to the Low Carbon Climate Policy, which was passed in parliament in 2012 – though the administration has been seeking viable possibilities to construct a Geothermal plant in Dominica. The Rapid advancement of technology in creating other forms of Renewable energy, currently exceeds Geothermal energy initiatives in cost effectiveness and construction, while providing high returns on energy production.
