Economist Dr. Thomson Fontaine cautions Dominican Leaders to reduce the Public Debt as the current percentage is too high.
The recent 2021 IMF report for Dominica revealed that Dominica’s Debt to equity ratio was over 120%, and went on to provide recommendations to reduce this to appropriate standards.
Dr Fontaine referenced the recommended percentage to ensure a country is able to continue lending money from the international community.
Dr. Fontaine explained that failure to follow this advice will result in Dominicans feeling the imposition of high VAT on Dominicans and increase in import duties.
