According to the head of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), Nicola Madden-Greig, at last week's Global Tourism Resilience Conference in Jamaica, encouraging entrepreneurship to enhance tourism in the Caribbean is critical to generational wealth.
She asked the Caribbean to focus a spotlight on the entrepreneurial class and develop this part of society through tourism. Eventually, she continued, this will enable generational wealth, encouraging citizens to become owners of their products and services. According to the Caribbean Tourist Organization, "the Caribbean destinations attracted an anticipated 32.0 million international tourist arrivals" in 2019 prior to the epidemic, this is “4.4% or around 1.3 million more than the 30.7 million in 2018". Travel and Tourism in the Caribbean "had the second-fastest recovery of all regions in 2021, with its contribution to GDP expanding by 36.6%," according to World Travel and Tourism Council data.
