May 29th 1979 and the events that took place then, are forever written in stone, as a riot took place in the environs of the Dominican government ministerial building, and site of the National Parliament at around 9:00am, determined to prevent passage of two amendments; The Industrial Relations Act, and The Libel and Slander Act, citizens took to the streets, stones in hand, and a Dominica Defence Force riot squad armed and supported by the government of the time. Lives were lost, nine people were shot, three of them, including a man and a thirteen-year-old schoolboy.
