Minister Responsible for Telecommunications and Broadcasting, Senator Oscar George says Government is seeking to resolve ongoing issues of Internet access in certain communities around Dominica. He made that statement during his presentation at this year’s 2020-2021 National Budget Debate. The Covid19 Pandemic has transformed social life by converting analog into digital, and many areas of Dominica have been forced to adapt to this new way of life, but not all have been afforded a fair chance to do so. One such area is the Kalinago territory and persons in those areas have been raising issues of lack of internet access, especially in the school system. Senator George says that through the regulator a request for proposals was issued to service providers, whereby bids have been received. He says after a review, one of these providers will be selected, with negotiations expected to close by July 31, 2020.
