One of Dominica's longest serving columnist and the country's longest serving newspaper columnist on the arts, Ian Jackson, calls it a day after over three decades of commentary, critique, and promotion of all aspects of the fine, performing and liberal arts.
It all started voluntarily at first, 32 years ago as Jackson sought to fill a vacuum by reviewing theatrical productions in the Arawak House of Culture in the Chronicle Newspaper, then the Drum, The Independent Newspaper and from its inception two decades ago, the Sun Newspaper. Having written well over 1,500 articles consisting of commentary, promotion of events and artists, review and critique of plays; concerts, calypso shows and other music releases, not only locally but internationally, Jackson says that what once used to become easy is beginning to be burdensome as schedules has to be stuck to and he feels that he has exhausted every aspect of the arts over his three decades. He hopes to publish two books on the arts, the first is to be launched during the summer of this year and possibly to establish an artistic blog. Jackson is a recipient of the Golden Drum Award in 2013 for song writing and Literary Arts.
