Opposition Leader Lennox Linton revisits facts/statements of Security Minister Rayburn Blackmore that show inconsistencies in governments justification for $64, 000 monthly house rent for prime minister Skerrit, to be paid poor taxpayers. Many persons from of all walks of life have expressed their disagreement with citizens of Dominica having to pay for the prime minister and his family’s rent in luxurious accommodation, to an amount equal to or more that of the president of the country, for a property that is now describes as a “palace” by citizens. $32,000 is the monthly rent for the Prime Minister, in addition to maintenance and staff fees bringing up the cost to almost $65,000 at a time when the country’s economy is struggling, due to Covid19, and is also in the middle of an overactive Hurricane season, due to climate change. Leader of the Opposition Lennox Linton sought to address this reality in his response the Finance Minister’s 2020/2021 National Budget Address, and also highlighted National Security Minister Blackmoore’s statements justifying such an expense during such a critical time.
