AWhatsApp message stating that the DLP Government planned to enact legislation to restrict public officers' salary increases to no more than 2% in any given year for the next 13 years, if the economy grows by a certain rate, but no more than 1% if it does not,was labelled by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit as “Political Mischief”; But he immediately withdrew the bill form the consideration of Parliament early on Monday morning, while still claiming that it was another deliberate and malicious attempt by the opposition to mislead the public and cause confusion. That bill was never discussed with any stakeholders, and he now says it has been withdrawn to allow for further discussions with the union." He was speaking in an interview on State owned DBS radio on Monday. Meantime, he says this week Cabinet will decide on the new structure and salaries for the teaching service.
