Prominent UWP members stand firmly in solidarity with Senator Isaac Baptiste who was suspended from today’s sitting of Parliament for reasons that remain unclear. UWP Deputy Political Leader and Parliamentary Eepresentative of the Roseau South Constituency, Joshua Francis, says “we are not going to allow ourselves to be disrespected to the point where it is averse to the interest of the nation” He, along with other prominent MPs of the UWP, spoke to Q95 after leaving parliament, due to what they describe as disrespect by the speaker. Deputy political leader and parliamentary representative of the Roseau South constituency, Joshua Francis Francis went on to say. Francis spoke about the importance for standing for justice, and referenced a few of the black ancestors and historic past leaders, who set the tone for speaking up for justice and principle. Parliamentary Representative for the Salisbury Constituency, Honorable Hector John claimed that the speaker of the House of Assembly, Alix Boyd Knight, continues to use her power unnecessarily, and that she came in to parliament today in a rather defensive mode.
