The eagerly awaited 2nd Annual PAYS Dominica Yachting Festival, organized by the Portsmouth Association for Yacht Security (PAYS) in collaboration with Offshore Passages Opportunities (OPO) based in the United States, is all set to commence from Saturday, March 23rd to Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at Prince Rupert Bay, Portsmouth, Dominica. Partnering in this endeavor is the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica (GOCD).
This year’s festival, themed "Bringing yachters back together again in 2024," promises an array of exciting activities aimed at attracting both local and international yachters, as well as Dominicans from across the island. The theme resonates with the sentiment shared by many yachters, including OPO Founder Hank Schmitt, expressing a desire to return to Dominica and explore its natural wonders. Schmitt's websites, such as www.sailo.com and www.sailopo.com/dominica, capture the essence of what draws yachters to the island. The festival lineup includes a welcome reception and a Creole Jazz themed party on Saturday, March 23rd, featuring speeches, culinary delights, music, and dancing. Highlighting the festival is the Special Appreciation Dinner, Awards Ceremony, and Cultural Entertainment Night scheduled for Saturday, March 30th, where individuals contributing to the local yachting sector will be recognized.
