The communities in the east, the villages of Castle Bruce, San Sauveur, Good Hope, and Petite Soufriere, who were impacted by the recent damage from unexpectedly torrential rainfall, continue to receive support from the government of Dominica. In order to reassure the populace that he is on their side during these difficult times, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit highlighted the steps being taken to relocate the residents of these towns. Additionally, he mentioned the initiatives taken for other Dominicans in the wake of Hurricane Maria and Tropical Storm Erika. Mr. Skerrit now pledges to ensure that affected residents have access to suitable, resilient housing. Mr. Skerrit informed residents that the government will offer income support for families in need wherever necessary as part of the support system. Other types of workers, such as farmers and fishermen, will also receive financial support, he claimed. However, he gave no indication as to how much would actually be paid to each of the persons affected, or when these monies would be paid to them. Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit.
