The Month of July will officially be recognized and launched as Cadence-Lypso Month this Friday July 2, 2021. That’s according to Event Promoter, Veteran Radio Personality and host of the “Creole Heartbeat" Program, Leroy Wadix Charles. He listed the dates of a series of panel discussions to take place throughout the month of June, with an official press launch at 11am at the UWI open Campus. Cadence-Lypso is a fusion of cadence rampa from Haiti and Calypso from Trinidad & Tobago, that has also spread to other English-speaking countries of the Caribbean. Originated in the 1970s by the Dominican band ExileOne, it spread and became popular in dance clubs around the Creole world and Africa and in the French Antilles. Gordon Henderson is the leader and founder of Exile One, and the one who coined the term Cadence-Lypso. Veteran Radio Personality and host of the “Creole Heartbeat “Program, Leroy Wadix Charles
