UWP Leader Lennox Linton is expressing disappointment in the Electoral Commission, for what he says is the biased approval of the DLP Government’s proposals, and intentionally overlooking allegations of bribery and treating in Dominica’s Elections. Linton believes the Electoral Commission has been compromised, and now functions almost as an extension of the Government, rather than as an independent body seeking to maintain democracy. Meanwhile UWP Leader Lennox Linton is calling on the Electoral Commission, to help ensure that Government does not take control of the media outlets in Dominica.
According to Linton, the United Workers Party believes that the DLP Government has ordered certain media agencies in Dominica to disassociate their business from the UWP and the DFP. However, Dominica’s constitution allows for all political parties to have fair air-time on all media outlets, to discuss their policies and views for purposes of governing Dominica.
