Wednesday evening’s panel discussion on ‘the way forward for electoral reforms’, organized by the church, business and civil society groups among others, reaffirmed the imperative for electoral reform with a cleansed voters list and Voter ID Cards, and secured a commitment in that regard from two of Dominica’s leading political parties, the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) and the United Workers Party (UWP). UWP Representative of the Roseau Valley Constituency, Senator Ronald Charles said that evening, when it comes to the law, the proposed legislation is not intended to benefit him or his political party, or any other political party, but to safeguard the integrity of Dominica’s electoral process.
