We must have robust civil defence capacity when disaster strikes our homeland, say Gabriel Christian4/30/2018 President of Rebuild Dominica Inc Attorney Gabriel J Christian says that by working together, we can help build a more self-sustained defence system here in Dominica. At a press conference held at the Financial Centre in Roseau on Friday, to announce the Million-Dollar shipment of Emergency Medical and Relief supplies to the Government & people of Dominica post Maria, Christian aired his message saying, “We know that we live in a disaster zone, and because of that, it is our duty, an absolute obligation to unite together so that we may have a robust civil defence capacity, to defend our persons and properties when disaster strikes”. Meantime, Christian says it is now more critical than ever that we unite our efforts, both government and opposition, civil society, and private sector, as we grapple with the complex and protracted crisis born of the natural disaster, which struck Dominica in September 2017. He stated, “We know that with increasing problems from climate change, increasing pressure on scarce natural resources, that we’re going to have to find ways to co-ordinate, collaborate, and cooperate.” Christian went on to say that, in so doing, we will be able to harness the most important resource that we have, the human resource of the Dominican people at home and abroad. He says that Allied with our other brothers and sisters from Africa, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, we can make a direct impact on the development needs of our respected countries.
