2-week workshop to improve students' performance at the early stages got underway here yesterday1/18/2017 A two-week workshop aimed at improving students' performance at the early stages got underway in Dominica Monday morning. The workshop which is being held at the Windsor Park Stadium conference room has targeted teachers grades K to 3. Assistant Chief Education Officer Dr Jeffrey Blaize says the workshop will be aimed at ensuring that the teachers are adequately trained in continuous and professional development. He says teachers’ growth and capacity is paramount to the Ministry of Education. Meantime, Dr Blaize says as a means of developing sustainability and capacity, the facilitators of the workshop will be local Dominican teachers. The initiative which is due to the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Education, USAID and the OECS is being implemented in 6 OECS member states. It includes policy development to support language learning, curriculum enhancement, teacher professional development and the acquisition of additional materials to support learning.
